Gingerbread "Festivity"

Our gingerbread projects, on two different days, didn't start out "festive", but I'm afraid ended that way when Rowan had complete meltdowns because they both didn't go exactly how he had imagined. The house didn't look just like the picture on the box, and we didn't have any candy for the gingerbread people, as they had had when he decorated his gingerbread man at school.

Gingerbread Tragedy
I was only able to keep my temper for the second meltdown by documenting this tragic face (taken post rolling on the floor, kicking and screaming).

It was too late in the afternoon for good light in this photo, but I still had fun playing with the tree bokeh.

  1. Crying was how our ended, but you knew that. Merry Christmas!

  2. The tree bokeh is absolutely fantastic. And Rowan won't remember his frustration, but just the beautiful gingerbread house he made with his sisters. It's difficult to be a little kid with very clear ideas about how exactly things should turn out.

  3. Nice tree bokeh! I often wonder which personality trait is better (or worse) -- the one that allows for very clear ideas or plans verses the one that has no direction. Of course, a combination of the two is ideal, but I don't know that most children (or maybe adults) have a true combo of those. As a reformed perfectionist, I understand Rowan. I agree with Francesca that he won't remember it -- may the patience be with you, my friend.

  4. Oh Poor Rowan, I remember moments like that as a kid...actually I still have them sometimes. Expectations and hopes seem even more heightened during the holidays, don't they? I love the way the house did turn out and I hope you all have a very sweet Christmas together.

P.S. I keep meaning to tell you...you have the best revolving list of interesting links on your sidebar. Have I told you that already? I have always been a fan of what you find. Thanks for those revolving lists of links.

P.P.S. I need to pick your brain about I-Phone photo apps. Adam got an i-phone for Hanukkah and I am itching to get my hands on the camera since I remember seeing the cool pics you have taken. Any tips? links? hints?
